Three-tier security measure at Shaheed Minar: RAB DG

Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun toady said that they have taken a three-tier security measure at the Central Shaheed Minar to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration of the Shaheed Dibas or International Mother Language Day on February 21. The RAB chief made the comments while addressing the press after inspecting the security arrangements at the Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday afternoon.
The RAB chief said the security cordon has been set up in coordination with RAB, police, and law enforcement agencies. He added that security surveillance will effective from midnight on Saturday at the Central Shaheed Minar area. For this, the elite security forces have been divided into five parts to ensure security, close circuit (CC) cameras have been installed in the entire area. There is also a bomb disposal unit and a dog squad.
Abdullah Al Mamun said that RAB has also taken adequate security measures for Amar Ekushey programs in important areas outside Dhaka and will also closely monitor everything there. Check posts will be set up, if anyone’s movement is suspicious, he or she will be searched while RAB helicopters will also be ready for special needs.
Responding to a question, the RAB chief said there is no threat so far. Like every year, we have arranged the security system in a planned manner.
