Past 24 hours 163 deaths, 11,525 cases reported

Bangladesh reported second highest 163 Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the deaths toll to 15,392. “The tally of infections has surged to 966,406 as 11,525 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, which is the highest ever daily cases,” Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today in its routine daily statement. Among the dead in the last 24 hours, 98 were male and 65 were female.
DGHS said 31.46 percent of the 36,631 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive while the infection rate was only 2.30 percent just on February 8 this year as, during the late winter season, the rate started decreasing sharply.The recovery count rose to 8,44,515 after another 5,433 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 87.39 percent recovered, while 1.59 percent died. Earlier, 164 virus deaths, the highest single-day spike and 9,964 fresh cases were reported on Monday (July 5).
