Covid-19: 166 deaths, 6364 cases reported in 24hrs

Bangladesh reported 166 more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the deaths toll from the pandemic to 18,851. “The tally of infections has surged to 11,46,564 as 6,364 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours,” Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today in its routine daily statement.

The highest 60 deaths were reported in Dhaka division while 33 died in Khulna and Chattogram division each. Among the 166 dead, 95 were male and 71 were female. DGHS said 31.05 percent of the 20,493 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.

The recovery count rose to 9,78,616 after another 9,006 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time. The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 85.35 percent recovered, while 1.64 percent died. Earlier, 231 Covid-19 deaths and 13,321 cases were reported on Sunday (July 19).
