4 held with heroin worth crores in Mymensingh

The Department of Narcotics Control has arrested four drug dealers with 1 kg 50 grams of heroin in raids in Mymensingh and Sherpur. Mohammad Khorshed Alam, deputy director of the Department of Narcotics Control in Mymensingh, said this at a press conference held at the Office of the Department of Narcotics Control in Mymensingh city on Saturday noon. The arrestees were identified as Mehedi Hasan and Nasirul, residents of Chapainawabganj, and Rubina and Ruma, residents of Sherpur Barakpara village. Rubina and Ruma are sisters.

Deputy Director Mohammad Khorshed Alam said that on the basis of secret information on Friday night, a raid was conducted at a residential hotel in Mymensingh city and mehedi Hasan and Nasirul, residents of Chapainawabganj, were arrested. Later, during extensive interrogation, 1 kg of heroin hidden in a special way was recovered from inside the private car used by them. During interrogation, drug dealers Mehedi and Nasirul said that they were supposed to deliver the consignment of drugs to two sisters Ruma and Rubina, the top drug dealers of Sherpur district.

Later, a team of the Department of Narcotics Control raided the houses of Ruma and Rubina in Sherpur along with Mehedi and Nasirul. Another 50 grams of heroin was recovered from them. A total of 1.5kg heroin, Tk 24,000 for selling drugs, a private car used in the drug trade, five mobile phones and a digital scale measuring heroin were seized from mehedi, Nasirul, Ruma and Rubina. The estimated value of the seized heroin is Tk 1 crore. The detainees have been sent to court after a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
