Mother, daughter found dead in Capital’s Merul Badda

Police recovered the bodies of a mother and daughter from a house in Merul Badda area under Badda police station in the capital. The deceased were identified as Mahmuda Akter Barish, 33, and her daughter Sanja Marwa, 10. Both were allegedly strangled to death. Badda police have detained Mahmuda’s husband Selim, 40, for questioning.
The incident took place on Tuesday (June 13) night. Police rescued them from Banashree Farazi Hospital around 3am. Later, the mother and daughter were taken to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead around 6:30am on Wednesday.

Sadeque told reporters that the mother and daughter were rescued from Banashree Farji Hospital and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared them dead. On the basis of the family’s complaint, husband Selim has been detained for questioning.
“Prima facie, it is believed that both of them were strangled to death. The exact cause of death will be known once the post-mortem report is received. Mahmuda Akter’s maternal uncle Sohel said mahmuda has another child aged seven to eight months. Selim did nothing. He used to raise the rent of the flat and support the family. They lived on the eighth floor of a building in Merul Badda.
