Record 889 dengue patients hospitalized in a day, 3 more die

Three more people have died due to dengue fever in the last 24 hours in the country, increasing the death toll by the Aedes-borne-mosquito disease to 76. Besides, 889 new patients were hospitalized during the period, the highest in a day. The information was obtained in a press release related to the dengue situation in the country by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday (July 10).

Among the new dengue cases, 574 people were hospitalized in Dhaka and the remaining 315 people were hospitalized in various government and private hospitals outside Dhaka. At present, 3,253 dengue patients are under treatment in various hospitals across the country. Among them, 2,080 patients are in Dhaka and 1,173 patients are admitted to different hospitals outside Dhaka.

As per the official figure, a total of 13,843 patients were admitted to hospitals due to dengue from January 1 to July 8, 2023. Among these, 10,514 patients recovered from the Aedes-borne mosquito disease. Earlier on Sunday (July 9), 836 dengue patients were hospitalized and six died due to the dengue disease.
